Wanneroo

Puppy Pre-School

Thank you for inquiring about our Puppy Pre-School run on behalf of the Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital.

It is wonderful news that you are starting your puppy off on the right paws!

Puppy Pre-School is a great way to learn how important the socialisation period for puppies really is and how you can progress with this at home to ensure you build solid foundations for a sound and confident dog later in life.

Our course is held on a Thursday evening and is $170 for four consecutive weeks. This fee includes weekly emails with homework exercises, some videos as well as additional information.

We do not operate on public holidays.

Our Socialisation program is based on real life experiences and should be viewed as an opportunity to learn how to expose your puppy correctly to ‘daily life’ in order to prepare him/her for adult life.

Classes are structured to follow on from training elements between sessions, therefore it is important that exercises are practiced at home, or you and your puppy will fall behind. (Missed classes can only be made up by viewing your homework emails)

Puppies must be between the ages of 8 to 15 weeks - they only require their first vaccination to attend.

These classes are not a ‘free for all’ play session as this can actually damage the development of social skills which is what we are trying to avoid during this sensitive period of development.

All puppies are individuals, and some will cope better in a class environment than others. For this reason, on the rare occasion a puppy may not be suitable to train under these conditions and you will therefore be offered an alternative solution to your training. (T's & C's apply)

All our training is based on up-to-date scientific research and has been tried and tested over many years. We train using Operant Conditioning utilising the power of positive reinforcement as well as sometimes the removal of a reinforcer (reward).

We do not advocate or support any form of punishment as this will damage your relationship with your puppy and is often the cause of fear-based behaviours including aggression.

Class Times.

All classes are currently held at 7.30pm

Please try to be on-time for the start of each session to avoid the disruption of other participants.

Venue - Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital - 923 Wanneroo Road, Wanneroo - (Large green building)

We require a minimum of four puppies to begin a new group. If this minimum number is not met, then the course will be postponed to the following week.

Once you completed your payment you will receive a welcome email that includes a video on socialisation and puppy development. It will be beneficial if you are able to view this prior to attending class.

Should you have any questions in relation to the training please feel free to contact us at PATS either via email - [email protected] or my mobile - 0438-998-204
